Virtual Q&A Session

It’s April already‽

With the registration deadline for the Fringe print program rapidly approaching next week, it’s time to start talking finances.

Join us for our next Fringe Curious gathering on Sunday, 19 April at 2:30 PM - a free workshop covering the basics of crowdfunding, followed by time for questions and mingling with other artists at Ensemble Studio Theatre in Hells Kitchen.

The workshop will cover:

  • Fundraising options (we'll focus primarily on crowdfunding, but we'll briefly cover some other options too)

  • Crowdfunding platforms and how to choose the best for your project

  • Identifying and engaging your crowd

  • Budget and rewards

  • Timeline

  • The campaign (and its aftermath)

  • Q&A and discussion

Jess Ducey has been fundraising recreationally and professionally since the late 1990s, including several years spent managing and advising campaigns for New Zealand’s first crowdfunding platform. They've helped crowdfund theatre shows, charity calendars, advocacy campaigns, nonprofits, new products, albums, restaurants, food trucks, events, social enterprises, and more.

The event will only be in person, but we'll share notes and slides afterwards. Thanks to our friends at Ensemble Studio Theatre for hosting us!

Upcoming shows & events

  • Speaking of our lovely hosts at EST, April 26 is their annual bowl-a-thon fundraiser! Kristin and RJ will be both rolling big for the cause - support them by pledging here.

  • The Obie-winning Criminal Queerness Festival, presented by HERE Arts and National Queer Theater runs 9-27 June 2026. Check out three new works written by artists from countries where queerness is criminalized or censored (including Syrian Soap, scouted at Fringe last year). Tickets on sale now.

Got a show coming up? Reply to this email to send it to Jess for inclusion in a future update. Please include the title, dates, and link to tickets or more info.

Until next time,

P.S. New here? Check our archive for past notes, resources, and links to help you plan your Fringe adventures.
